• Homeowner surveys will be distributed to roughly 90 EABTP applicants and 1000 high-canopy households in three study areas.
  • We selected study areas for a survey of homeowner
    opinions to be stratified by the time since EAB detection. Within each study area, we used the criteria of owner-occupancy, lot size, and parcel-level canopy coverage to define a sampling frame of likely shade tree owners.
• Forest professional surveys will be distributed to roughly 100 VDOF County Foresters involved in program implementation, and to Certified Arborists working in Virginia.
• Tree health assessments will be conducted mid-fall, comparing treated trees’ canopy loss to recorded pre-treatment levels, and to untreated neighboring ash
